1315 new infected found in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 1315 new covid cases from all the 30 districts in the past 24 hours taking the covid tally in the state to 9,82,181.

During the period 66 more covid patients succumbed to the virus pushing the total fatalities to 6168 while with the recovery of 1702 people on Tuesday, the total recoveries surged to 9,62,088. The active cases in the state were further reduced to 13,872.

The test positivity rate in the state, which declined to 1.9 per cent on Tuesday, marginally increased to 2.01 today.

Only Khordha district in the state recorded 5.7 per cent TPR while all other 29 districts registered less than 5 per cent. As many as 20 districts have reported a test positivity rate below one per cent.

Sources said out of 1315 fresh cases, 762 were reported from quarantine centres and 553 are local contact cases.

Khordha district recorded the highest number of 413 cases followed by 198 in Cuttack. These two districts together registered 46 per cent of the total caseload reported in the past 24 hours.

Similarly, out of 66 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the Khordha district alone accounted for 18 deaths followed by Cuttack( 10), Puri(9), Mayurbhanj(6) and Angul ( 5).

The three coastal districts of Khordha, Cuttack and Puri have reported 56 per cent of the total fatalities recorded in the state in the past 24 hours.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the State Government has set a target to operationalise Oxygen Plants in 20 Hospitals of the State by the end of this month for better treatment of people in the Covid-19 situation.

He said two officers are especially engaged by the State Government for inspection of production work in the Oxygen Plant and management.
