Jalandhar, The Border Security Force(BSF) on Saturday seized two plastic bottles filled with contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 2.980 kg from the area of responsibility of 136 Bn of the BSF in Ferozepur sector. A spokesperson for the Punjab Frontier’s Headquarter here said that the BSF troops guarding the water territory of River Ravi noticed some suspicious substance flowing in the river. The boat team of the BSF fished out the suspicious looking objects which turned out to be two plastic bottles. The bottles were opened and the contents examined which they suspected to be heroin. The BSF said that it seemed the traffickers had dumped the bottles into the river so that it could flow down towards the Indian side and were probably meant to be collected by other traffickers on this side of the border. The value of the seized heroin is said to be Rs 14.90 crore in the international market. The BSF has so far seized 336.797kg of heroin valued at more than Rs 1693.95 crore in the international market from the Punjab border during the current calendar year.
