CM has not blamed anyone for rising cov cases: CMO

Gangtok, Sikkim Chief Minister P S Tamang has been criticised by opposition for his comments on surge of Coronavirus figures in State.

While addressing the Task Force members on COVID 19 situation and future strategies, he had said the present surge was due to ‘gross violation of lockdown norms, despite repeated appeal from the State Government.’ The opposition alleged that CM has blamed the public.

Reacting to the remarks, Spokesperson of ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party Jacob Khaling, who is also political secretary to Chief Minister has  made it clear that CM has not blamed anyone for it but he simply presented the facts because it is part of his responsibility. Khaling has said that Sikkim Democratic Front, the main opposition party and certain others have been trying to confuse public on something which has not happened.

He further added, ‘going out without masks, more than 50 persons attending marriages, more than 20 attending funerals lead to violation of COVID 19 Lockdown norms, which is a fact.’ There are no two opinions about it. He has only made the public aware. CM presenting any fact is bearing his responsibility. ‘Can’t CM present facts?

Khaling has questioned all. He has demanded  proof if any of Chief Minister PS Tamang scolding the public. Alleged attempts made by opposition to tarnish the image of Govt  on COVID 19 matter, have been condemned by SKM party. The State Govt has been adopting different steps to prevent spreading of Pandemic. Hospital has been strengthened, manpower trained. Many intellectuals have agreed that Sikkim has been doing the best of treatment. Health infrastructure has been improved in a short time. State has been providing  better treatment than many places in the country, asserted Khaling.
