Puducherry, As many as 168 more persons were tested positive for coronavirus and one person died in the last 24 hours in the Union Territory leaving 1552 active cases here. According to the COVID 19 status for Tuesday released by the Puducherry Health Department, 163 new cases were reported in Puducherry region and five in Karaikal region. 46 of them were admitted to the government medical college, 52 to Jipmer, 2 to Covid Care Center (CCC), 63 to be admitted and five to Karaikal Government Hospital. Meanwhile,96 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. 31 were discharged from the government Medical college,11 from Jipmer,40 from CCC,three from Karaikal GH and 11 from Yanam GH.One person died at Jipmer last evening. Presently 259 persons are being treated in the government medical college, 381 in Jipmer, 286 in CCC, 63 to be admitted, 59 in Karaikal GH, 134 in Yanam Gh and one in Mahe GH. Another 369 positive cases are under home isolation. So far, 4146 persons were infected by the virus of which 2537 were treated and discharged and 57 died leaving 1552 active cases here. Director of Medical Services (DMS) DR.Mohan Kumar in a whats app posting today said that a 55 year old woman from Pethuchettipet here died at Jipmer due to Covid Pneumonia and Pulmonary Embolism.
