New Delhi: Delhi witnessed intense heatwave conditions with mercury soaring to 44 degrees Celsius, India Meteorological Department said.
The maximum and minimum temperatures were pegged at 44 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius respectively.
The IMD has forecast arrival of monsoon after one week.
Senior scientist Naresh Kumar said people may have to reel under extreme hot weather conditions for another four to five days.
Delhi’s air quality was in the poor category.
