Drug peddler arrested, 2 kg heroin recovered in north Kashmir

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a drug peddler and recovered two kgs of heroin in the frontier district of Kupwara, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

He said on a tip-off, a naka checking was established at Yariban Hajitra Taad in border town of Karnah in north Kashmir district of Kupwara.

He said during checking the naka party intercepted a person in a suspicious condition.

Later, during his personal search police recovered two packets of heroin, he said, adding that the accused identified as Naseer Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Hajitra was arrested.

Accordingly legal action has been taken and case FIR Number 61/21 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Karnah against the accused person, and investigation has taken up.

He said the war against these drug peddlers will continue and those found involved will be strictly taken under law. This act is hugely hailed by general public of the area.

Meanwhile, Kupwara police has once again appealed to people of the district to come forward with the information regarding drug peddlers so that curative steps can be taken against them.
