Balasore: A feast with friends proved fatal for three youths in Odisha’s Balasore district after three friends drowned to death in front of two others in Budhabalang river.
While body of one Ankit Pati from Kadamsahi under Nilagiri NAC was recovered last evening, bodies of his friends Piyush Pratyush Naik and Mrutunjoy Mishra were fished out this morning.
Sources said the trio along with two other college batchmates-Ranjan Kumar Sala and Jyotrimaya from Nilagiri had gone to Triveni Ghat for a feast. After having their food, they went to Budhabalang river to took bath. While bathing, Ankit, Piyush and Mrutunjoy accidentally slipped into deep water and swept away by strong current. After failed attempts to trace their three missing friends in the water, Ranjan Kumar and Jyotrimaya managed to swim ashore and raised an alarm.
Fire Service personnel with the help of locals immediately launched a rescue operation and fished out the body of Ankit last evening. Bodies of Piyush and Mrutunjoy were traced and recovered this morning
