Chennai, Former Minister and a prominent
face in the DMK Minority wing, A Rahman Khan died at
a private hospital here this morning following a heart
attack.Police sources said the five-time MLA, who had recently
recovered from COVID-19, was undergoing treatment at
a hospital when he suffered a heart attack today and died.He had served as labour Minister during the 1996-2001
DMK regime headed by late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.He was thrice successively elected from Chepauk Assembly
seat in the city in 1977, 1980 and 1984 and later got elected
to the Assembly from Park Town in 1989 and from
Ramanathapuram in 1996.Mr Rahman Khan, who was also the DMK high level committee
member, was known for his oratorical skills and used to draw
huge crowds in public meetings. The DMK announced a three-day mourning as a mark of respect
to the departed leader.A release from DMK headquarters said party flags would fly at
half mast for three days from today and the all the functions were
deferred.
