Srinagar, The district administration has imposed fresh three-day lockdown from Monday in Ganderbal, the only district in the Kashmir valley, where 4G internet service was restored on Saturday night.Residents however, expressed surprise for imposition of fresh lock down in the district when only 25 to 30 COVID-19 positive cases were reported for the past several days.Interestingly, fresh lockdown was imposed in Ganderbal when shops and business establishments reopened and passenger traffic resumed in Srinagar from Monday.The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal in a communication imposed fresh lockdown for three days from today in the district to prevent spread of coronavirus. He appealed to people to remain indoor and move out only when there is any urgency, wear masks and adopt Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), including keeping physical distance.A resident Mohammad Rafiq Wani told UNI over phone that some vegetable and medical shops were open in the main town in Ganderbal and Kangan.He said additional security forces have also been deployed to prevent assembly of people in the markets and other places.Official sources said said Lt Governor Manoj Sinha is also scheduled to visit Ganderbal to review the overall development and other related matters with district officials. This will be the first visit of Mr Sinha outside the city since he assumed office as LG of Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir on August 7 after G C Murmu resigned on August 5.Meanwhile, police has registered a case against some persons who violated SOP and attempted to snatch body of a COVID-19 positive person from a medical team in Ganderbal.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal in a tweet said, ”Few insane persons play dare devil with Covid, relatives of an Covid positive dead person attempted to snatch body from medical team team at Wakura. Strict action taken by use of force, Case registered for violation of SOP and arrests being made”.
