Maharastra Minister directs LMC to adopt ”Dharavi model”

Latur : Maharastra Minister for Medical Education and Cultural Affairs and Guardian Minister of Latur district Amit Deshmukh directed the Latur Municipal Corporation to make efforts to implement the “Dharavi Model” to prevent outbreak of corona in Latur district.Mr Deshmukh while attending a review meeting on corona measures on Wednesday here said that COVID-19 was increasing day by day in the city.  He further said that for adopting the model, all the people in the hotpot area should be tested on the same day and those people should be shifted to one place and quarantined for fourteen days.He further directed that Latur Municipal Corporation should set up a swab collection center in all the 18 wards and make arrangements for the swabs of the people in those wards by appointing necessary health workers there. Similarly, the Municipal Corporation should conduct mass testing on a large scale.The Minister added that Municipal Corporation should form ward wise task force and  make available at least 1000 beds for the COVID patients.Mayor Vikrant Gojamgunde, Municipal Commissioner Devidas Tekale, NMC Standing Committee Chairman Deepak Mathapati, LMC Leader of Opposition Deepak Sool, Transport Chairman Mangesh Birajdar, Vilasrao Deshmukh Government Medical College dean Mohan Doibole, District Surgeon Sanjay Dhage, Girish Thakur, LMC Assistant Commissioner Vasudha Phad, Sundar Bondar were present in the meeting.
