Naidu urges PM to order an inquiry into massive ‘phone tapping’

Vijayawada, Telugu Desam Party National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday alleged that the YSRCP government headed by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy besides private persons were allegedly resorting to massive ‘phone tapping’ against its opponents in order to perpetrate and foist their ‘Jungle Raj’ on all sections of the people in the state. In a letter to Mr Modi, Mr Naidu urged him to order an inquiry by a competent authority of the Government of India. The Centre should take stringent action so as to prevent the YSRCP government and some private persons from resorting to such illegal activities that pose a threat to National security.”This is a violation of Articles 19 and 21 of the Constitution that provide fundamental rights for citizens. The ruling YSRCP government is using illegal tactics to protect and preserve its power by intimidating and blackmailing the opponents and dissenting voices”, Mr.Naidu said. The former Chief Minister mentioned in the letter that even private individuals were using cutting edge technology and equipment to unlawfully tap the phones. If these nefarious activities were not put to an end, they would proliferate and emerge as a bigger threat to National security and sovereignty of the country as a whole. If the Governments and private persons involved in such illegal activities were not restrained, they would attack and undermine the democratic institutions that were painstakingly built over decades of hard work in the country.”We appeal to you to initiate immediate and stern action to check any further unlawful activities (phone tapping) by the ruling party and private persons in Andhra Pradesh. It would be appropriate to order an inquiry by a competent body of the Government of India in order to check the illegal acts of phone tapping in the state, the TDP National President said.
