Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 1,864 new Covid cases and 68 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the tally in the state to 9,65,715 with 5,445 fatalities, sources said on Saturday.
The recovery jumped to 9,41,204 with 2,044 people under treatment recovering from the infection on Friday. The active cases in the state further declined to 19,013.
The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) in the state continued to remain less than 3 per cent for the last several days, the sources said.
Only Cuttack district in the state reported TPR over 5 per cent(5.2) while in the rest 29 districts it is below 5 per cent. Ganjam and Jharsuguda districts have registered the lowest TPR of 0.3 percent.
On Friday 74,707 tests were conducted in the state and 1864 of them, about 2.49 percent, tested positive. The state reported 1082 cases from the quarantine centres and 782 local contact cases.
Khordha district remained in the top with 496 cases followed by Cuttack(221) Balasore ( 114) and Jajpur (107).The rest 26 districts in the state registered less than hundred positive cases.
For the sixth time, the daily Covid load in the state during July remained below 2000 mark and since July 20, the daily Covid load has been maintaining less than 2000 mark besides showing a marginal decline in the number.
Of the 68 fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, Khordha district alone accounted for as many as 30 deaths followed by Puri ( 11),Angul( 8),Mayurbhanj (7) and Keonjhar (6).
Four coastal districts have together accounted for more than half of the total active cases in the state. They are Khordha(4606), Cuttack( 2583), Balasore(1370) and Jajpur (1325).These districts have altogether accounted 51.98 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
Meanwhile, an all India serological survey conducted by the ICMR revealed that three districts in Odisha- Ganjam, Rayagada and Koraput have developed anti-bodies in over 65 percent among the masses and 85 per cent among the health workers.
