Bhubaneswar: Covid tally in Odisha surged to 8,51,782 with the detection of 4,469 new infection cases in the last 24 hours.The fatalities in the state also rose to 3,302 with 45 more covid patients succumbing to the virus in the past day.Health and family Welfare department sources said of the 4469 new cases, 2546 were reported from the quarantine centres and 1923 are local contact cases.Khordha district has the maximum number of 612 cases followed by Cuttack ( 413),Jajpur ( 370) Balasore (318) and Dhenkanal ( 252).At least 15 of 30 districts in the state reported less than one hundred positive cases in the past 24 hours.Khordha has topped the tally with a total 1,26,718 covid positive cases followed by Cuttack(69,720), Sundargarh ( 57,815) Angul ( 37,892) and Jajpur (32,210).Sources said 11 districts in the state have reported a total positivity rate less than 4 percent,6 districts have between 5 to 7.5 percent while 13 districts have more than 7.5 percent.Jharsuguda in Western Odisha has the lowest TPR of 0.7 percent while Jajpur district in Coastal Odisha has the highest TPR of 19.5 percent.Official sources said 45 fresh covid deaths were reported from 19 districts in the past 24 hours.Khordha district registered the highest number of six deaths while Cuttack district reported four deaths.Three each died in six districts, two each in six districts and one each in five districts.So far the covid 19 has claimed the highest number of 534 fatalities in Khordha district followed by Sundargarh (307),Ganjam ( 299),Cuttack (210) and Puri ( 152).The active cases in the state have further reduced to 59,361. As many as 12 districts in the state have active cases less than 1000 while nine districts have active cases between 1001 to 2500 and nine other districts have above 2501 active cases.Khordha district occupies the top position in the district tally with 8744 active cases followed by Cuttack ( 5576) and Jajpur ( 4351).Health and family welfare department sources said the total recoveries from the covid 19 soared to 7,89.066 after 7578 more covid patients recovered from the virus on Saturday.
