Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 1917 new covid cases from all the 30 districts and 69 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 9,63,851 with 5377 fatalities.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said 1109 new infections were reported from the quarantine centres and 828 as local contact cases in the past 24 hours.
Khordha district recorded the highest number of 518 cases followed by Cuttack (256)and Puri (118). The other 27 districts in the state registered less than one hundred covid cases.
For the second time, the state reported a record 69 deaths in the last two days. On July 20 also 69 covid patients succumbed to the virus.
Khordha district which reported the highest number of covid positive cases also registered a maximum of 26 deaths in the past 24 hours followed by Balasore(10), Sambalpur ( 7), Kendrapara (6), Bargarh (5) and Sundargarh ( 4).
The Test Positivity Rate(TPR) in the state for the second consecutive day remained at 2.4 per cent as out of 78,134 tests conducted in the state on Thursday,1917 were tested covid positive.
Sources said only one district- Puri has reported TPR above 5 per cent ( 8.7) while the rest 29 districts registered TPR less than 5 per cent with Kalahandi district recording the lowest TPR of 0.1 per cent.
As many as 20 districts in the state have reported TPR of less than 2 per cent.
The Active cases in the state further declined to 19,261. Four coastal districts-Khordha, Cuttack, Balasore and Jajpur have together reported 9960 active cases, registering 51.7 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
Official sources said 2210 people were recovered in the past 24 hours pushing the total recovery in the state to 9,39,160.
