PM congratulates P V Sindhu for winning bronze medal

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated India’s ace shuttler P V Sindhu for winning the Bronze medal in Badminton at Tokyo Olympics 2020 and called her India’s pride and one of its most outstanding Olympians.

“We are all elated by the stellar performance by @Pvsindhu1. Congratulations to her on winning the Bronze at @Tokyo2020. She is India’s pride and one of our most outstanding Olympians. #Tokyo2020,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet.

Reigning world champion P V Sindhu clinched the bronze medal after beating world no 9 He Bing Jiao of China in the badminton women’s singles third-place play-off, in Japan’s capital on Sunday.

Sindhu outclassed eighth seed Bing Jiao 21-13 21-15 in over 53 minutes at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza court to add to her Rio 2016 silver.

In Rio Olympics, the reigning world champion had settled for a silver medal after losing to Spain’s Carolina Marin in the final.
