PM Narendra Modi once again face of BJP’s electoral campaign

Kolkata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is once again the face of BJP’s main electoral campaign for next year’s Assembly poll in West Bengal, according to party’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.” We, the BJP, will not project anyone as the chief ministerial candidate in West Bengal as our main plank is PM Narendra Modi’s development agenda ‘sabke saath sabke vikash’, ” Vijayvargiya said when asked about the party’s chief ministerial candidate. He said the BJP will win the Assembly poll in 2021 and then party leaders both at Centre
and state will be consulted for a consensus candidate to be the leader and for the post of
chief minister. He said at present the party was engaged in organisation at all the grassroots level to
secure at least 220 seats out of total 294 with the face of PM Narendra Modi, as the
party romped home in 18 parliament seats out of total 42.The saffron brigade in the state has been facing a common question as to who would be the party’s face to counter Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. There had been a rumour that a tacit undercurrent was on in the party between president Dilip Ghosh and former TMC think-tank Mukul Roy, who has now many sympathizers at party’s central level.Mr Roy is also a headache for the ruling party as he knew many leaders, who are known as the fence sitters and move accordingly.Meanwhile, seasoned politician and former governor of Tripura and Meghalaya Tathagata Roy, who arrived here on Sunday, decided to rejoin the BJP politics in the state, which goes to poll in the next eight months.Seventy-four-year-old Roy had been the president of BJP’ Bengal unit between 2002-to 2006.He said he would meet the local leaders shortly and be engaged in active politics.
