New Delhi, Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Thursday released the second round ‘Sero Survey Report’ on Covid-19 and said it shows that 29.1 per cent of people have developed antibodies against the novel coronavirus. Addressing the mediapersons, Mr Jain said,”The second serological survey which was conducted between 1-7 August shows that 29.1 per cent of people have developed antibodies against Covid-19. A total of 15,000 samples were collected during the survey. That is, antibodies against corona have been found in about 58 lakh people in Delhi.””These individuals were asymptomatic and may have quietly recovered from Covid-19, given the presence of antibodies in their bodies,” he said.”The sample size last time was 21,387, while this time samples of 15,000 people were taken,” he said.”Antibodies were found in 28.3 per cent of males and 32.2 per cent of females in the second round sero survey. The survey found 34.7 per cent antibodies in people under 18 years of age. Antibodies against the virus have been found in 28.5 per cent of people aged 18 to 49 and 31.2 per cent of people over 50 years of age. South East Delhi has the highest number of antibodies found in 33.2 per cent people,” the Minister said.”That is, according to this survey, antibodies were found in 29.1 per cent of people in the month of July. That is, the infection has increased in 5.62 per cent people overall, hence antibodies have been found,” Mr Jain said.”Good thing is that we can assume that so many people have been cured, but because we still have not reached the level of herd immunity, then those who are left are afraid of infection again. That is, about 70 per cent people are those who have not yet build antibodies,” he said.”This is a good thing because we at least know that what percent of people have been cured after getting infected,” Mr Jain added.Delhi has a total of 1,56,139 cases of Covid-19, including over 4,000 deaths.
