370 more test positive for COVID-19, 9 dies in Puducherry


Puducherry, As many as 370 more people tested positive for Coronavirus taking the total number of active cases to 3,364 while 9 patients died in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours. According to COVID-19 status released by the health department here on Tuesday, 317 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 51 in Karaikal region and two in Yanam region.As many as 282 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. Of them, 205 of them were discharged from Puducherry region, 34 from Karaikal region and 43 from Yanam region.Nine persons succumbed to the virus in Puducherry region in the last 24 hours.Presently, 1499 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 85 in Karaikal region, 34 in Yanam region and three in Mahe region. Apart from this, about 1743 persons are being treated in home isolation in Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions.So far, 8396 persons were infected by the virus and of which 4909 patients are being treated and discharged, 123 died and 1,621 persons being treated in hospitals and 1,743 under home isolation.Meanwhile, Director of Medical Services Dr Mohan Kumar in a Whatsapp posting said that a 48-year- old man was brought dead to the government hospital here and he had tested positive for COVID.A 70-year-old female, a 53-year-old male and 39-year-old male died in the government medical college, while, three men aged 60 years, 79 years and 62 years died in Jipmer, a 60-year-old woman treated in a private clinic and later brought to PIMS died in PIMS and a 52-year-old male died in the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College.
