New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday declared to provide financial assistance of Rs one crore to the family of Corona warrior late Rakesh Jain.
Mr Kejriwal said Late Rakesh Jain was a lab technician at the Hindu Rao Hospital and he continued to serve the people till his last breath.
The Delhi Chief Minister said there is no compensation for anyone’s life but ”I am hopeful that this financial assistance will provide some ease to his family; we will also provide a job to his elder son”.
Mr Kejriwal said, “Rakesh Jain was a lab technician at the Hindu Rao Hospital of Delhi. While working on COVID duty, Jain got affected by COVID-19. He was shifted to the Metro hospital but later he lost his life due to Covid. He was martyred but till his last breath, he served the citizens of Delhi. The Delhi government salutes such frontline workers who have served relentlessly the citizens of Delhi. Today on behalf of the Delhi government, I have handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the family members of Rakesh Jain.”
The Delhi Chief Minister said, “Today I also met his mother, wife and children. I know that there is no compensation for anyone’s life but I am hopeful that this financial assistance will provide some ease to his family. The elder son of Rakesh Jain is doing his graduation and also looking for a job. The Delhi government will also provide a job to his son. I want to ensure the family of Rakesh Jain that the Delhi government will stand beside them in the future also whenever they need any help. I have assured the family of Rakesh Jain that there is no need to worry because the Delhi government is standing beside them.”
Corona warrior Late Rakesh Jain was posted as a Lab Technician in the Department of Pathology at Hindu Rao Hospital, North MCD. Hindu Rao Hospital was declared as a designated Covid Hospital. Late Rakesh Jain got affected by COVID while serving corona patients and was admitted to the Metro Hospital at Preet Vihar on June 17, 2020, where he died on June 18, 2020.
Late Rakesh Jain was a resident of Delhi and joined the service in 1988. He was supposed to retire in 2022. Late Rakesh Jain is survived by his mother, wife and two children. His wife is a homemaker, while the elder son is preparing for service after completing graduation and the younger son is pursuing graduation.
