Kejriwal appeals to people to follow “weekend curfew”

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday appealed to people to
follow the “weekend curfew” imposed to counter the spread of Corona infection.

”Due to Corona, there is curfew in Delhi today and tomorrow. Please follow it. We all have to defeat Corona together,” Mr Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi.

The curfew which came into effect at 2200 hrs last night will end on Monday morning at 0500 hrs.

The National Capital on Friday reported the largest single-day spike of 19,486 new cases of COVID-19 while 141 people lost their lives. The new additions took the national capital’s caseload to 8,03,623 and the death toll to 11,793.

Mr Kejriwal on Thursday had announced a ”weekend curfew” in Delhi to contain the surge of COVID-19 infection.

People providing essential services and those attending wedding services will be exempted from
the restrictions and issued e-passes.

While gyms, malls and spas will be shut immediately, cinema halls can function with 30 per cent occupancy. There will be no dine-ins in the restaurants but take-aways will be allowed.
