Oxygen Express with 70 tonnes of life-saving gas reaches Delhi

New Delhi:Oxygen Express train carrying around 70 tonnes of the life-saving gas reached the Delhi Cantt. Railway Station early Tuesday morning.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal took to twitter to share the information.

“OxygenExpress has reached Delhi from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh with Oxygen for patients in the capital.

Indian Railways is leaving no stone unturned in our collective fight against COVID-19, & ensuring sufficient availability of life-saving resources across the country,” Mr Goyal tweeted with the 44 seconds video of the train’s arrival at the railway station in South Delhi.

The train was departed from Jindal Steel Works, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh on Monday night.

In view of the high demand of Oxygen across the nation, the railways had decided to run Oxygen Express trains to ferry liquid medical oxygen to cater the demand of life-saving gas.

Delhi has been suffering with acute shortage of oxygen gas.

On Monday, Delhi reported 20,201 fresh COVID cases and 380 deaths, the highest single-day spike in deaths in 24 hours. The city’s COVID-19 case tally now reached 10,47,916 while the death toll has mounted to 14,628.

Total 57690 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate reached 35.02 per cent from Sunday’s 30.21 per cent.
