The Election Commission (EC) of India after being blamed by Madras HC for the second wave of pandemic corona, at last came with its order to ban victory rallies on or after the counting of votes will 5states including West Bengal & an Union Territory on 2nd May. EC also categorically ordered the winning candidates to receive their election certificate can’t come with more than two people. Everybody knows that the ban order came a day after the Madras HC blamed the EC for the 2nd corona wave & said officials of the poll watchdog should probably be tried on murder charges for allowing to violate the norms. Addition to this, some cases also made in six HC of the country which made the matter more important & SC took these cases now giving stress upon those. Looking towards the development of those cases perhaps the EC also became vibrant to issue the ban over processions which indirectly indicates that, “yes, EC can”. The EC in its ban order clearly mentioned that no victory procession after the counting on 2nd May shall be permissible. Not more than two persons shall be allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his/her authorized representative receive the certificate of election from the concerned returning officer in view of the corona pandemic situation. Till today daily cov-19 cases in the country rises by over 400% since 1st April & deaths over 600%.
