Remdesivir to be sold across TN: Health Minister Chennai: Tamil Nadu

Health Minister Ma Subramanian today said that Remdesivir will be sold in Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Tirunelveli and Trichy districts. In view of increasing demand, the government has decided to sell this
drug in more districts for treating COVID patients, he told reporters,
after reviewing the COVID measures at the Government Stanley
Medical College Hospital here today.

The drug was being sold in Chennai at present efforts are being made to ensure that it was available across the State, he added. Mr Subramanian said the super-specialty building at the Stanley hospital will be converted into a corona ward with 500 beds. He also said steps are being taken to set up 12,500 beds with oxygen facilities in the state in the next one week.

”At present more than 1,500 patients affected by corona are being treated at the Stanley hospital. People are safe here and all measures are taken to treat them,” he added.
