No Decision Yet On Pending Exams, Says Board

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education said on Friday that it is yet to take any decision on the pending Class 12 Board Exams this year.

It is clarified that no such decision (cancellation of Exams) haas been taken regarding Class 12 Board Exams, as being speculated. Any decision taken in this matter will be officially communicated to the public, PTI quoted are senior official of the CBSE as saying.

The official’s response came in the backdrop of demands by section of students and parents expressing concerns over the current Covid situation in the country.

The CBSE had cancelled the Class 10 Board exams and postponed the Class 12 Exams on April 14 in view of the surge in cases of Covid. It had mentioned that a decision would be taken on the deferred Class 12 Exams following review of the pandemic situation after June 1. Students would be given at least 15 day notice before the Exams are conducted, the Board had said in its announcement.

It may be noted that CBSE had earlier this month announced the marking policy for Class 10 Board Exams. A few days ago, a senior Education Ministry was quoted in a Times of India report saying that, “Given the current situation, there is possibility of scrapping the exams altogether. CBSE would review the situation and probably would have to work out an alternative assessment scheme for Class 12 students.”
