Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 3806 new covid cases from 30 districts and 37 fatalities from 12 districts in the past 24 hours, Health and Family Welfare department sources said today.
With the fresh infections, the covid tally in the state surged to 8,70,498 while the death toll rose to 3508.
As many as 6240 covid patients recovered on Thursday taking the total recoveries to 8,23,599. The active cases further declined to 43,338.
For the last 25 days, the recovery cases have outnumbered the daily positive cases in the state.
Sources said for the last four days the daily positive cases in the state continued to remain below the 4000 marks.
Out of 3806 new cases reported in the last 24 hours,2172 were registered from the Quarantine centres and 1634 as local contact cases.
Almost 25 of the total 30 districts in the state reported less than 200 new cases. Khordha district has the highest number of 617 cases followed by Cuttack (393), Jajpur ( 346), Balasore(220)and Puri (200).
Of the 37 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, Khordha has the highest number of five deaths followed by four each in Cuttack, Kalahandi and Jharsuguda district.
Three people each died in as many districts, two each in four districts and one each in three districts.
Sources said as many as 15 of the total 30 districts have active cases below 1000 mark while eleven districts have between 1001 to 2500 and four districts such as Khordha, Cuttack, Balasore and Jajpur have more than 2500 active cases.
To date, Khordha district has the highest number of 6756 active cases while Nuapada in Western Odisha has the lowest number of 154 cases.
As far as the Test Positivity Rate(TPR) is concerned,14 districts have less than five per cent, eight of them have even less than 2 per cent.
On the other hand, eight districts have TPR between 5 per cent to 7.5 per cent and another eight districts have TPR above 7.5 per cent.
The Jajpur district in coastal Odisha has the highest TPR of 19.5 while the Jharsuguda district in Western Odisha has the lowest TPR of 0.8 per cent.
