Chandigarh: In a major drug bust, Haryana police seized over 505 kg Doda Post,
2.9 kg opium and more than 265 kg Ganja leaf (cannabis) being smuggled in trucks from Bhiwani and
Nuh districts.
Four people, three from Haryana and one from Punjab have been arrested so far in the case.
A police spokesperson informed here on Sunday that in the first incident, a police team during patrolling and checking near bus stop Nimdiwala got a tip-off that a huge quantity of narcotic substances was being brought from Dadri side in a truck.
Acting swiftly, police started checking vehicles intensively by putting a Naka near a dhaba and intercepted a truck coming from Dadri side. When searched, 2.9kg of opium was recovered. After a thorough checking, police also recovered 34 plastic bags weighing 505kg Doda post hidden in between 800 pulses bags packed in the truck.
Primary probe reveals that seized contraband was to be supplied in Uttar Pradesh. The arrested driver and cleaner were given Rs 20,000 to 30,000 separately for bringing a consignment of drugs per round. Arrested accused were identified as Paramjit Singh alias Kala of Ambala and Baldev Singh of Mohali.
In the second incident, police seized 265kg of ganja leaf (cannabis) in Nuh district and arrested two accused in this connection. The seized contraband was transported in a truck bearing Rajasthan from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh via Nuh.
After getting a secret input about the large quantity of drug being brought from Uttar Pradesh, a police team established a naka and apprehended two people inside the truck and seized 265 gram drug.
The arrested accused have been identified as Saleem and Akhlaq, both residents of Gurnawat in Nuh district.
Cases have been registered against the accused. A detailed investigation is underway, he added.
In a separate case, sleuths of Crime Investigation Agency in Rohtak had seized 10kg Ganja
from the possession of a Bihar resident identified as Mukeshdas.
