Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported a test positivity rate of 2.5 per cent as out of 62,686 tests conducted in the past 24 hours 1629 tested covid positive taking the total tally in the state to 9,70,814.
Health and Family Welfare Department sources said out of 1629 cases,939 were reported from the quarantine centres and 690 as local contact cases.
Only two districts Khordha and Cuttack have reported more than 100 cases while the rest 28 districts in the state registered daily covid load in the past 24 hours less than 100.
The state has been reporting less than 2K covid cases since July 20 with a marginal dip in the numbers in the passing days.
For the first time after a long gap of over three months, all the 30 districts in the state reported a test positivity rate of less than 5 per cent.
Jagatsinghpur district in coastal Odisha has the highest TPR of 4.7 per cent while Gajapati recorded zero TPR in the past 24 hours.
Official sources said in the past 24 hours 60 covid patients under treatment succumbed to the virus pushing the total fatalities in the state to 5634.
Sundargarh district registered the highest death toll of 14 people followed by Khordha (8), six each in Cuttack and Angul and five each in Puri and Keonjhar. These six districts together accounted for over
73 per cent of fatalities in the state in the past 24 hours.
The Active cases were further reduced to 17,764 with Khordha registering the highest number of 4583 cases followed by Cuttack ( 2266), Balasore(1190) and Jajpur (1075).
These four coastal districts have together accounted for over 51 per cent of total active cases in the state.
Sources said 2204 more people recovered on Monday taking the total recoveries in the state to 9,47,381, registering over 97 per cent recovery.
