Rahul attacks govt for ignoring rights of Asha workers

New Delhi,  Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked the NDA government at the Centre for ignoring the interests of Accredited Social Health Activist (Asha) workers. Amid reports that Asha workers are planning to go on a strike against the central government for lack of safety equipment and delay in their remuneration, even as the number of COVID cases in the country continue to mount, Rahul, in a tweet, said, ”Asha workers reach door to door across the country to ensure the health security of the people. They are truly health warriors. However,    today they are forced to strike for their own right .The government was dumb, but now it is also blind and deaf.” Rahul posted on his social media account a report that said that six lakh Asha workers across the country are planning to go on a two-day nationwide strike, in response to a call by central trade unions, against the Centre for lack of safety equipment and delay in payment of their remuneration.
