Short Film ‘Mask’ Directed By Corona Warrior In Odisha Wins Int’l Award

Berhampur: At a time when mask has become a new normal amid COVID-19 pandemic, a short film named ‘Mask, which was directed by a corona warrior in Odisha, has received accolades at the prestigious Quarantine Film Festival-2020. During the international film festival at Argentina this year, ‘Mask’ short film was chosen for the ‘International People Choice Award’ among more than 3,000 films. The short film was directed by senior Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer Shewta Kumar Das, who is on COVID duty in Ganjam district. The story revolves around a boy from an economically backward family in Berhampur. Apart from his study, the boy sells masks made by his mother in Berhampur town. But people do not show interest to buy the masks due to its low cost and not of appealing type. Masks during the COVID-19 pandemic play a significant role to save lives. Sensing the need of masks during these testing times, Shewta Kumar wrote the story and created the short film.
