Police arrests one, recovers govt rice in Baramulla

Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a person after 144 bags of government rice were recovered from his house in this north Kashmir district, official sources said on Sunday.They said on a tip-off that one Mehraj Ahmad Dar has illegally stored government rice in his house at Kripalgarh Pattan, in Baramulla, a raid was conducted. They said during the raid 144 bags of rice with government marking were recovered and Dar has been arrested. Further investigation revealed that the government rice, meant for weaker sections of the society, was being sold in the open market after repacking them in the bags of different brands.They said 104 bags were still in the bags of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) while 40 repacked in jute bags of a famous brand.A case under FIR No 218/ 2020 stands registered in police station Pattan and further investigation was taken up.
