Dams level rises in Marathwada


Aurangabad (Maharashtra), As the water level in the dams continues to rise significantly, the incessant rains have damaged standing Kharif crops on several hectares land in the Marathwada region, a report said on Thursday. According to the weathermen, the eight districts of the region have received an average 8.6 mm showers in the past 24 hours. In the same period, Aurangabad, Nanded and Jalna recorded the highest respective rains 14.5 mm, 12.8 and 10.3 while the places of Beed, Parbhani, Hingoli, Beed and Osmanabad got light rainfall. Since monsoon start, the region has recorded a total average 536.3 mm rains, which is 120.5 per cent of expected and 78.9 per cent of annual downpour.
With 667.2 and 693 mm rains so far, Aurangabad and Jalna have exceeded their average annual target of 584 and 616 .2 mm, they mentioned.However, the wet weather has rendered the moong, urid, cotton and maize produce flaccid. But, it has filled the major dams like Jayakwadi till 69 per cent while Yeldari, Siddeshwar, Mannar and Vinshnupuri have reached their total capacities, report apprised.
