Odisha Cabinet Approves Amendment Of GST Act

Bhubaneswar:  In a significant development, Odisha Cabinet today approved amendment of two Acts- Odisha Goods and Services Tax Act-2017 and Odisha Local Fund Audit Act-1948. At its 19th meeting held via video conferencing under chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,  the state Cabinet approved construction of a 993-metre-long High Level bridge over Subarnarekha River at Haldipada in Baleswar district. The bridge will be built at a cost of Rs  138 crore. “Out of the five agendas scheduled to be discussed, one from Higher Education Department was deferred. However, Four other agendas, two from finance department and one each from Works and Parliamentary Affairs Departments were discussed,” informed Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy. Two proposals of the Finance Department-amendment in Odisha GST Act  and Odisha Local Fund Audit Act- were approved by the Cabinet, he added. “Odisha Local Fund Audit Act, 1948 was amended to include electronic mode of service of surcharge notices and orders on the delinquent Government officials. The notices and orders will be available on the HRMS portal of the state Government, in addition to the existing manual modes of services,” Tripathy added. Detailing the High-level bridge project in Balasore district, Works Secretary  Krishan Kumar said, “The proposed bridged over Subarnarekha river will be 993.12 metre long and 62.07 metre wide connecting Jamkunda under Baliapal block to Adangapantei under Bhograi block. It will improve better communication facilities and reduce distance between the two blocks resulting in industrial and economic development of people of those areas. Target has been set to complete the Rs 138.75 crore project in 30 months.”
