Body of former BJP leader found from Ganga


Varanasi, The body of Ajay Kumar Maurya, former regional vice-president of BJP’s Kisan Morcha, who was admitted to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital for cancer treatment, was found from the Ganga river here, police said on Saturday. As per sources here, the body was found floating in the river near the Gayghat in the Kotwali area on Friday night. No injury marks have been found on the body which lead to suspicions of suicide. The actual causes behind the death will be established after a post-mortem report. After he went missing from the hospital on Friday, his family members started searching for him but in vain. They then filed a missing person report at the Lanka police station. BHU sources said that Ajay Kumar Maurya, a resident of the Shivpur area of Varanasi, had been admitted to BHU’s Sir Sunder Lal hospital for cancer treatment. He had undergone an operation already and had another scheduled for Friday.However, he went missing from the hospital before the operation. Further investigation is underway.
