Nobody is above the law. Also law is not supreme over country’s constitution. More ever in a democratic country like India a citizen’s liberty is guaranteed by this holy institution. As per the constitution there are three pillars for which the constitution and country stands. Though the media is the fourth pillar according to political pundits, economists, social organizations and cream of the society; but nowhere even a line over journalist and journalism has been placed inside the constitution. Rather in independent India many politician used to comment, each man and woman is journalist. After 73 years the fourth pillar and the people with it, who are making it stronger, wiser are being harassed in some way or other. The burning example is Aranab Goswamy, the editor in chief of the Republic TV, who has been arrested for 2018 abetment case. This year the home minister of Maharashtra ordered to open and enquire the case again. If at all, Arnab is in the negative side, justice should be given to the opposite party who happens to be wife and son of the deceased interior designer. As per the Republic TV report they have cleared all amounts of the said person, whereas again the case reopened and at last Arnab has been arrested Media report tells, above 60 police personnel with gun came to the residence of him at Lower Parel at 6am in the morning. The way of arrest clearly indicates knowingly the plot has been made to humiliate him. The habeas petition filed by Arnab in the high court will go for hearing on Friday at 3pm, whereas he has been reminded to judicial custody till 18th November. The real pity is that in a vast country like India fourth pillar after independence remain as before, even though constitutional amendment has been taken place for innumerable times. Never any government pondered over the same for a better democracy.
