ROAD ACCIDENT: ODISHA AHEAD

Thanks to Corona due to less road accident and  death for the first time in comparison to previous year. This year accident is lessened with 20 percent. With the year end accident number should be less with 50 percent as per the advice of Supreme Court’s Road Safety Committee to the State Government of Odisha. Even after 2 days, there would be a virtual meeting to analyze over the same where Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Transport Secretary will have to attend.  According to Transport Department’s report, on 2019, upto 3oth September accident number was 8203 whereas within the same period in 2020, the number has been reduced to 6706. The number has gone down mainly because of lockdown to meet the corona pandemic which indirectly helped the state to curb the number of accidents. If anybody  compare the accident and death rate of first half in 2019 with 2020, then he can be relaxed a bit because of the accident and the death rate has gone down this year as 4404 accident occurred and 2062 people died only whereas on previous year, in 5802 accident 3013 people breathed their last . Also 4268 people has been injured this year whereas the number in previous year was 5934. So, within said period of this year accident reduced to 31.56 percent whereas; previous year it was 24.10 percent. In general, 70 percent accident occurred due to over speed, 10 percent due to drink and 4.45 percent because of mobile talk in moving vehicles.  Within 2008-2018, more than 38,000 people died in Odisha due to accident only. Everyone should remember, life is valuable. Human life is more valuable where each minute counts. So, the precious life should not be ended due to road accident which can be avoided and minimised with a little bit of restraint in driving.
