Researches on Swamiji to be initiated by JNU

New Delhi, An academic and research programme on Swami Vivekananda is likely to be unveiled by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) here on January 12, the birth anniversary of the saint.Sources here on Friday said, a decision in this regard was taken at the 250th executive council meeting of the University on Wednesday which decided to constitute a committee to help develop the programmes.The University has also decided to hold an annual Swami Vivekananda memorial lecture on the birthday of Swamiji, the sources said.The week-long youth festival, in connection with Swamiji’s birthday, will include sports, cultural events, exhibitions, seminars and conferences on the life of Swami Vivekananda.According to JNU vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar, ” The youth festival will immortalise the messages, thoughts and visions of the great soul and spread his teachings among the community, specially students.”
Informatively, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda on the University campus on November 12.
