Ranchi: A retired army man opened indiscriminate firing over a land dispute in Lalganj under Khelgaon Police Station in which a labourer was killed on the spot while another one sustained serious injuries and has been admitted in a city hospital.
Post the incident the culprit fled from the spot. Police said that the retired army man Manager Tiwari had also served a prison term on an earlier occasion and had recently come out of jail. Police said that the landowner Ashok Shukla was getting some construction work done when suddenly Manager Tiwari reached some goons and opened indiscriminate firing in which a labourer was killed on the spot.
Post executing the crime the culprit fled from the spot along with his associates. Police said that land is registered in the name of Ashok Shukla but Tiwari had claimed that he had paid Rs 22 lakh for the agreement of the land. Further probe was on.
