Balasore: The lead of BJD narrows in Balasore Sadar Assembly Constituency, as Opposition BJP remained ahead of the ruling party consecutively in sixth and seventh rounds of counting.
However, BJD continues to lead in the total votes count in the constituency.
In seventh round, BJP candidate Manas Kumar Dutta was leading by a meagre of 48 votes by securing 3236 votes as compared to 3188 of BJD and 142 of Congress. In the sixth round, Dutta led by 694 with 3716 votes. BJD had received 3022 votes.
So far, the ruling BJD has garnered 25,112 votes, BJP 22,693, and Congress 2011. Independent candidate Benu Mausa has secured 217 votes. A three-layer security arrangement has been made for counting of votes in the Assembly Constituency underway at the Collectorate here.
Round-wise results are being be uploaded on the official website- results.eci.gov.in. The same are also being disseminated outside the counting centre as well as CEO’s office. It is pertinent to mention here that by-elections to two Assembly Constituencies- Balasore and Tirtol- were necessitated after the demise of respective MLAs Madan Mohan Dutta and Bishnu Charan Das.
