Boy killed, 3 hurt as water tanker lorry runs amok

Chennai: A four-year-old boy was killed and three others injured when they were hit by metro water tanker lorry at MRC Nagar in the city, today. Police said the driver of the tanker lorry lost control of the vehicle, rammed through a few vehicles near the MRC signal and came to a screehing halt. The boy was sitting in the pillion on a two-wheeler
driven by his grandfather when the tragedy occurred. The lorry hit the vehicle from behind and the boy
suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot. The lorry then ran amok hitting a few other vehicles,
that left three people injured. In the melee, the traffic signal post was uprooted. The lorry driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle. Police have collected CCTV footages in the area to
trace him.Adyar Traffic Investigation police rushed to the spotand shifted the injured to Government Royapettah hospital. The boy’s body was sent for post mortem.
