CCS detective department arrest man for cheating public to tune of Rs 1 cr

Hyderabad, Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department here has arrested a person for cheating the public to the tune of Rs one crore in the name of chit business.Based on a complaint, CCS, DD arrested Munugoti Harinath of Pragathi Nagar in Kukatpally on Monday.He was being produced before the XII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court for sending him to judicial remand, a police release here said on Tuesday.A complaint was lodged by one Y Rajeswar of Jawahar Nagar on September 21 and he stated that one person by name Munuganti Harinath of Saroornagar was running an un-registered chit-business and also running printing ink business in the name of Harinath Enterprises at 12, Allahabad Bank building, Chikkadpally for the last 25 years.But since November 2019 he started avoiding the payments and switched off his phone. Further, he wisely transferred his property on his wife and children’s name and sold the same which he acquired from the ill-gotten money and since then remained absconding.Therefore he requested for action. Basing on the above report a case vide Cr.No. 123/2020 was registered and investigated into. The investigation revealed that Munugoti Harinath has collected huge amounts from innocent members under the guise of running of non-registered chit business illegally and subsequently failed to repay/return the amounts to their members/depositors, thus cheating gullible customers, the release added.
