Sikkim CM grants cashless treatment for poor


Gangtok, Sikkim Chief Minister P S Tamang has announced to provide cashless treatment to poor at Central Referral Hospital (Manipal) here.”It is provided through CM ‘s Rural Health Insurance Scheme,from CM’s Relief Fund,” says CM Tamang.Within 15 months of assumption to power , he has realized his dream to start Government dialysis facility in the State, that too in remote West Sikkim’s District Headquarters Gayzing. The Haemodialysis unit has become functional from August 10 last. To begin with the Dialysis patients who were getting it done outside the State, have been asked to come home. Such returnees are sent to Gayzing and have been availing the facility comfortably.This appears as a bright feather in his cap.The otherwise seriously sick are brought to Gangtok from villages for treatment. Describing the major financial expenditure on health of needy ,he says ‘ Rs 7,87,83,500.00 (Seven Crore Eighty-Seven Lakh Eighty-Three thousand and Five Hundred Rupees) have been spent for the medical treatment by our government ,so far. A total no. number of 1,32,350 beneficiaries were provided relief under the Chief Minister’s Relief Package during the crisis. For Ayushman Bharat, which grants secondary health care for the poor, the enrolment has increased from 31552 beneficiaries to 179000 within one year.The chief minister said a Mobile Village Clinic will be there in every village by 2021 and each mobile clinic will be having a Doctor and a Nurse attached to it.They will tour the village once a week.Presently Sikkim has an Oncology unit in Govt hospital ,but keeping in view the need and demand, a Cancer Hospital has been envisioned by Tamang in Jorethang, South Sikkim. ‘It will be the best in the North East and would cater to people of North Eastern Region also’.A Coronavirus treatment unit has been set up at Govt hospital here with testing facilities and trained hands. 1187 patients have been tested so far and 701 treated,cured and discharged.
