Bhubaneswar: After a brief respite, cold wave again gripped several parts of the state today with the mercury plummeting below 10 degree Celsius at four stations in the last 24 hours.
As per the Regional MeT centre, Phulbani remained the coldest place by recording the lowest temperature of 5.8 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda (7.6 degree C), Darngbadi (8 degree C), Sundargarh (8.5 degree C) and Keonjhar (9.9 degree C).
Places that recorded below 11 degree Celsius are Balangir (10), Sonepur (10.2), Bhawanipatna (10.5) and Sambalpur (10.8). The Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw minimum temperature of 16 and 15 degree Celsius, respectively.
Besides, a think blanket of fog enveloped various parts of the state with poor visibility recorded at many places this morning. At several places including the Twin City, the foggy condition prevailed till 10.30 AM.
“Very dense fog with visibility below 50 metre was recorded at Chandbali, Cuttack and Boudh whereas Paradip witnessed dense fog with visibility remaining between 50 and 200 metre. Puri and Nayagarh recorded moderate fog with visibility remaining between 200 metre and 500 metre. Besides, shallow fog was experienced in Baripada, Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Koraput and Malkangiri,” said the MeT centre.
