There is no full stop to covid-19 in our state where even within 24 hrs 16 died tody. Before a day to it, OERC took a decision to hike the retail supply tariff (RST). From 1st October, say just after a week this will be worked out as per the order of OERC. In this order, it has been clearly indicated that, 20 paise hike is a must per unit. As per the declaration for the first 50 unit the rate will be calculated per unit rupees two & seventy paises instead of rupees two & fifty paises. Within 50 to 200 unit the rate will be calculated as rupees four & fifty paises per unit. In case of 200 to 400 units retail consumer will have to Pay rupees five & fifty paises & if more is the unit, then per each extra unit rupees four & seventy paises will be charged. But the point is that when there was a question to hike retail price in the month of April this year; OERC declared clearly that considering covid-19 situation in the state there would be no hike in RST & BSP. Pity is that even Parliaments monsoon session ended before a week due to covid-19 situation & surprisingly even in this critical movement due to GRIDCO’s application to hike the RST, same has been ordered by OERC. Everyone including the GOVT in the state should think whether RST hike now under cov-19 period is just & timely or not?
