Covid’s Twin Sister Mucormycosis

Covid Virus is so dangerous that the whole world is suffering a lot since two years. In 2019, this virus first showed its strength which compelled Beijing to report the same to WHO in order to declare it a pandemic and later on it has been declared pandemic. Lakhs above people died of different countries. India’s position also became vulnerable. Since 2020 pandemic for India poses a war like situation. Till now the second phase of Corona is with its full swing and experts are with the opinion that the third phase may be there. This problem became doubled up when fungal infection Mucormycosis attacked a few people first in Gujurat and Maharasthra. Now the same infection is spotted in Rajasthan where around 100 black fungus patients are being treated. Rajasthan govt. before 24 hours declared Mucormycosis  an epidemic in the state. After Rajasthan, it is Telengana and Tamilnadu Govt. who declared the black fungus as a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act-1897. Today the central government directed all states and union territories to declare Mucormycosis as an epidemic because this infection leads to prolong morbidity and mortality of Covid-19 patients. The central health ministry in a letter to all the states expressed that all government and private health facilities and medical colleges have to follow guidelines for screening, diagnosis and management of Mycromysis. Not only that but in all suspected and confirmed cases to report the same near health department through district level chief medical officers and afterwards to Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) surveillance system. Officially the number of infected cases is limited so now it is time for the all states and union territories including the center to fight against twin sister Covid and Black-Fungus
