CRPF’s tribute to constables killed in militant attack

Srinagar, CRPF on Tuesday paid rich tribute to two constables, who were killed in a militant attack in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Monday.An official said that all ranks of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), J&K police and SSB paid floral tribute to Constable Lokesh Sharma and Constable Khurshid Khan at a wreath-laying ceremony at RTC Humhama in central Kashmir district of Budgam on Tuesday.”The wreath-laying ceremony was led by Advisor to Lt Governor Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar. Floral tributes were also paid by Additional Director General (ADG) of CRPF, J&K Zone, Zulfiquar Hasan to the Constables, who made supreme sacrifice on Monday when militants attacked a security force naka party near an orchard at Nawan mode in Kreeri area of Baramulla,” he said.He said other senior officials — including Inspector General of CRPF, Srinagar Sector, P K Pandey — besides officers from police and SSB also paid floral tribute to the jawans.He said the mortal remains of the martyred jawans, both residents of Bihar, will be flown to their native places for last rites.A police spokesman said that at about 0915 hrs, militants fired indiscriminately upon a joint naka party of police and security forces from nearby orchards at Nawan mode in Kreeri area of Baramulla.
He said, in the attack, two CRPF personnel of 119 BN and a policeman sustained grievous gunshot injuries, adding all the three injured personnel succumbed.They were identified as SPO Muzaffar Ali of District Police Baramulla, Constable Lokesh Sharma and Constable Khurshid Khan of 119 Bn CRPF. In the initial retaliatory firing, a militant got injured, he said.The militants were engaged till the area was completely cordoned off with the help of reinforcement and the search operation was thereafter jointly launched by the Baramulla Police, 29RR and CRPF.
“In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed. Two Army personnel also sustained gunshot injuries and were shifted to hospital, where one of them succumbed,” he added.
