CSK Skipper Dhoni, Rayudu lands in Chennai for IPL training

Chennai: After a forgettable outing lat year,
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper M S Dhoni and his team
mate Ambati Rayudu arrived in Chennai late on Wednesday
night for training ahead of the upcoming 14th edition of the
Indian Premier League (IPL) T-20 tournament.

This year’s edition was likely to be held in April-June window
and the player’s auction has already been conducted.

The dates for this year’s IPL was yet to be finalised.

CSK had a forgettable outing last year, when the event
was held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where it failed to
qualify for the play offs for the first time and finished at
the bottom.

Soon after their arrival, Dhoni and Rayudu went on a
mandatory five-day quarantine in view of the corona
pandemic.

They would also undergo three corona tests.

They would start training after all the tests returned
negative.

Confirming the former Indian skipper’s arrival, CSK
in a tweet tagging his picture at the airport said

On Ambati Rayudu’s arrival, another tweet with his
photo said “First #Dencoming of the summer from
across the border is Manavaadu Bahubali!!! #Yellove

In another tweet, CSK said ”the Singa Nadai to start
off the day with! Thala Coming! #DenComing #WhistlePodu

CSK CEO K S Viswanathan said the training session was
likely to start on March nine with the available players.

”The camp is likely to start from March 9 and the
players who are available will take part after the
mandatory five day quarantine and subject to three
COVID tests returning negative”, he said.

Some of the Indian players in CSK team would be
arriving in batches after the England series andjoin
the training.

CSK had roped in off-spinners Moeen Ali (England)
and K Gowtham, besides Cheteshwar Pujra in the
auction held on February 18.
