The whole country has started the process of vaccination in each state & UTs. Covishield & Covaxin are two type of double dose vaccine which were being used by the central & state GOVTs to control corona pandemic. When it started, medical experts used to say that after 1st dose within 4-6 week interval, 2nd dose is to be taken. But more than lakhs from different states like Maharashtra, Odisha, after being vaccinated 1st time, they are waiting for the 2nd dose even beyond the recommended 4-6 weeks interval which automatically posses a question mark over the 1st dose effect. According to media report, even an estimated 5lakh people in Maharashtra only are waiting for the 2nd dose of Covaxin while in Odisha around 1lakh people are in the line to take 2nd dose of Covishield. For this kind of immunization, people used to think that again they may go for 1st dose. Over this, Dr N K Arora, member of the National Committee on Adverse Events Following Immunization, clarified that recipients of 1st dose should not be worried if at all the 2nd dose is delayed. Even if the gap between 1st & 2nd dose increases to 8-10 weeks in case of either vaccines, people can go for the 2nd dose without any hesitation & it will still be effective. It is needless to tale according to Dr Arora that there is no need to repeat the vaccine again from 1sT dose due to delay. If the expert is accurate, the Central GOVT & all State GOVTs should apprise the same to all citizens for a better vaccination.
