New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced the extension of COVID-19 lockdown in the National Capital for one more week.
Addressing a digital press conference here, Mr Kejriwal said the Delhi government is extending the COVID-19 lockdown till May 31, 0500 hrs in the National Capital. The restrictions, which includes the suspension of Metro services, will now stay in place till May 31.
Mr Kejriwal said in the past 24 hours, Delhi has reported 1,600 fresh COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate has come down to 2.5 per cent. He further said if COVID-19 cases continue to decline, the city government will commence the process to ”unlock” Delhi from May 31 in a phased manner.
Notably, the National Capital is already under a lockdown since April 19, 2200 hrs.
