Eight CPM party offices destroyed, eight injured in Tripura

Agartala, The ruling BJP has been accused of burning down at least five party offices of opposition CPI-M in several locations, the headquarters of CPM’s trade union CITU, a state office of CPI and SUCI were ransacked while opposing the nationwide bandh called by 10 trade unions and left parties yesterday protesting against labour law reforms and farm laws.The CPI (M) alleged as many as eight people, including a hotel owner in the city, have been assaulted by the unruly cadres of BJP in broad daylight. All the incidents allegedly happened in presence of police and the attackers had carried fibre sticks being used by police and security forces, which has raised the question of public safety.The CCTV footage showed that the criminals while attacking a hotel in the heart of the city and CITU office had carried firearms and policemen were found “helplessly watching” the scene, alleged CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar. He added that when miscreants set a CPI-M party office on fire police was standing there.”In none of the incidents, police registered any case or arrested anybody though perpetrators have been identified. Police deputed in front of CITU office stated on camera that they tried to prevent the miscreants but failed because the attackers were in large numbers. If this is the situation, how can people believe there is an elected government?” Kar questioned.He further stated that the law and order situation in the state has “deteriorated very fast” because the administration “lost all control”. He demanded the government intervene immediately.
