K Palaniswami today condoled the drowning of four medicos
from the State at Volga river in Russia and said steps were
being taken to bring back their bodies home.In a statement here, he said he has directed the higher
officials of the government to contact the External Affairs
Ministry and the Indian Embassy officials in Russia to take
necessary steps to bring the bodies back to home.”Following this, higher officials of the government are
taking all coordinated measures in this regard”, he added. Mr Palaniswami also expressed grief and anguish over their
deaths and offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved
family members. Weekend trip by ten students to river Volga in Russia turned
fatal after four medical students from Tamilnadu were drowned. The deceased were identified as Mohamed Ashiq from Dharapuramin Tiruppur district, Manoj Anand of Thalaivasal in Salem district,
R Vignesh from Thittakudi in Cuddalore district and Stephen from
Chennai. All of them were final-year students at Volgagrad State Medical
University.According to reports, there was a sudden flooding and the students
were washed away. While six managed to escape, four of them
drowned.
